Setting up a company in Oman: the steps, explained
An overview of the path from first idea to a fully operating company — and what to prepare.

Oman welcomes foreign investors, and in most activities a company can be fully foreign-owned. The process is well defined, but it has many steps — and doing them in the right order saves weeks.
The typical path
- Identity verification and access to the government e-services
- Articles of association and commercial registration (CR)
- Company stamp and activity licence for your business activity
- Chamber of Commerce registration and tax card
- Foreign investment licence
- Labour clearance, so the company can sponsor visas
- Investor visa, medical test and resident card
- Personal and corporate bank accounts
What to prepare
- Passport copies and personal photographs for every shareholder
- A clear description of the planned business activity
- The company name you would like, with alternatives
Good to know
Requirements, fees and timelines depend on the activity, the location and the shareholders, and regulations change. Treat this as an overview — not legal advice — and confirm the details for your own case before you start.
Our team at Oman Register handles this process every day. If you are planning a company in Oman, get in touch.
